Como, Italy: The Best Day Trip From Milan (Funicular, Duomo & a Hidden Pizza Gem)
Como, Italy made the perfect (accidental) day trip from Milan! After our train to Verona was packed to the walls, we pivoted last-minute to Lake Como instead — and it turned out to be one of our favourite days in Italy.
In this vlog: the Duomo di Como (the last Gothic cathedral built in Italy), a local craft fair, riding the Como funicular up the mountain for incredible lake views, real estate window-shopping along the water, and the pizza spot that ended up being the best meal of our trip — Pizza Lariana.
🍕 Ate at: Pizza Lariana
🚡 Rode: The Como–Brunate Funicular (~€7.20 round trip)
⛪ Visited: Duomo di Como, Piazza Volta, Villa Olmo
Travel tips in this video:
Get to the train station 30 min early on weekends/holidays
Book ferries in advance during Italian bank holiday weekends
Skip the waterfront restaurants — go one street back for better food
